Call for Papers

Invitation

Full papers are scientific research papers, vision papers or review papers related to methodologies and/or applications. The full paper structure includes the title, authors' names, affiliations, ORCID numbers of all authors, an abstract (up to 150 words), and 3-4 keywords; the body of text includes an introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusions, acknowledgements (optional), and references.

The maximum length of a full paper submission is five (5) A4 camera-ready pages (including everything mentioned above) and should strictly follow the formatting rules of the provided IOS Press template.

Short communication papers are scientific papers, presenting early results or conceptual models for forthcoming research. The short communication paper structure includes the title, authors' names, affiliations, ORCID numbers of all authors, abstract (up to 100 words), and 3-4 keywords; the body of text includes an introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusions, and references.

The maximum length of a short communication paper submission is two (2) A4 camera-ready pages (including everything mentioned above) and should strictly follow the formatting rules of the provided IOS Press template.

All submitted papers will be subject to a peer-review process by three independent reviewers. Accepted full papers will be included in the EFMI STC 2026 Proceedings, published by IOS Press as an open access e-book and submitted for evaluation for possible indexing in Medline / PubMed, Scopus, and elsewhere as mentioned by IOS Press. Conference registration is mandatory for at least one co-author/presenter. The rule 'one paper, one registration; two papers, two registrations, etc.' applies according to EFMI rules.

This conference seeks to bring together European and international scientists and to share their latest methodologies and results in "Artificial Intelligence in Clinical Decision Making and Education".

We particularly encourage early-career scientists and students to contribute to the conference.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please upload your camera-ready papers according to the IOS Press template.

Do not submit only abstracts or plain text documents.

Reviewers will immediately reject unformatted documents that do not follow the structure (title, authors, affiliations, ORCID numbers, abstract, keywords, introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusions, references), the IOS Press template, the required referencing style (Vancouver - NLM style), and the respective allowed length of the paper.

Dates and Deadlines

• Start date of submissions – 10 June 2026

• End date of submissions (Full papers and Short Communication papers) – EXTENDED 06 September 2026

• End date of submissions (panels, workshops, and demonstrations) – 15 September 2026

• Deadline for mandatory registration of paper authors – 25 September 2026

• Expected publication of conference proceedings – 31 January 2027

We are using the Online Registry Platform for handling your submissions. Register with the Online Registry Platform and submit your contributions in MS Word format. All submissions go through a peer review process. The submissions must be in English and formatted according to the provided templates.

The EFMI STC 2026 Scientific Programme Committee (SPC) and Local Organising Committee (LOC) invite you to submit a scientific paper for peer review, to organise a workshop, a panel, and a demonstration. Scientific Programme: Papers and Other Types of Submissions

Registration: At least one author of the paper must be registered for the conference before 25 September 2026; otherwise, the paper will be rejected. 

The following types of submissions are possible:

Oral presentations

Description: Oral presentations of research findings as full papers (12 min presentation plus 3 min Q&A) and short communications papers (4 min presentation plus 1 min Q&A).

Means of presentation: Preferably using PowerPoint in a 16:9 format. 

Workshops, Panels, and Demonstrations

Description: presentation and discussion of innovative, controversial or impactful topics.

Length and format: 3 pages (abstract 150 words maximum), following the scheme of title, abstract, topic, programme, outcome, and short bios of presenters. Submissions must be formatted according to the IOS template in A4.

Presentations: A 60-minute in-person presentation and discussion; the programme must engage and involve the audience. At least three registered persons are required to present in panels. Similar requirements are obligatory for workshops and demonstrations. If these requirements are not met, the organisers may retract the accepted submission from the programme.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Mandatory author registration for all accepted submissions is applied. 

Any presentation accepted into the programme requires at least one author to be registered for the conference. The EFMI rule one accepted paper corresponds to one registration. If an author has multiple accepted papers, then the author has to pay for each paper a separate registration, unless another co-author is registered to the conference. Disrespect of this EFMI / STC rule will lead to cancellation and withdrawal of the submitted manuscript from the conference proceedings. For workshops and panels, all authors / presenters must be registered participants. 

Registration: At least one author of the presentation of a full paper or short communication paper must be registered at the conference before September 25, 2026; otherwise, it will not be in the conference programme.
